Templates speed implementations
MI does not lend itself to ‘one size fits all application’ solutions - every business creates highly tailored MI in house. This gets the job done but the resulting code often seems like tangled spaghetti and is expensive to extend and maintain.
RTC uses a different approach – Tim Berners Lee’s Semantic Web – built to solve the spaghetti problem.
Key to Tim’s approach is the lego-like nature of Semantic code – modules can be swapped in and out much more easily.
In the Resource and People Management templates we see input modules – ‘maintain staff records, maintain project records …’
These modules can be easily re-used to build new templates very quickly.
A rule of thumb for RTC templates is an ‘80% fit’ for your MI off the shelf.
A key RTC differentiator is that the remaining ‘20%’ can be finished much more quickly.
